The Travel Trends That Have Defined Dubai’s 2026 Tourism Season So Far

By Nina Petridis, General Manager, Radisson RED Dubai Silicon Oasis

As Dubai moves from summer into its final quarter, the city’s hospitality landscape is entering a clear new phase. Corporate <a href="https://middleeastdaily.net/extraordinary-travel-festival-iii-to-unite-global-travel-community-in-bangkok/”>travel and events return, outdoor venues reopen and residents become more socially active, while the traditional boundaries between business, leisure, events and staycations continue to blur.

The numbers point to a stronger market. Dubai welcomed approximately 869,000 international overnight visitors in August, its highest monthly total since February, while hotel occupancy reached 66%, recovering from 36% in March. At Radisson RED Dubai Silicon Oasis, occupancy rose from 51.5% in March to 82.3% in August.
Yet a stronger market does not mean guests are becoming less conscious of value. Today’s traveler is more informed, selective and deliberate, comparing rates, reviews, locations, experiences and booking conditions before committing.

Travel is not slowing, it is changing

“I believe the defining travel trend for the remainder of 2026 will be purposeful, value-conscious and flexible travel,” says Nina Petridis, General Manager of Radisson RED Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Flexible booking conditions, travel insurance, dependable connectivity and the ability to change or extend a stay are therefore increasingly important. Value-conscious does not necessarily mean choosing the lowest price. Travelers will pay more when an offer feels relevant, flexible and trustworthy.

“We are living in a VUCA world – volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous creating what I describe as a degree of ‘permanxiety’. Travelers recognise that disruption may occur, but they are not giving up travel. Instead, they want greater control over their decisions,” Petridis adds.

Bleisure is no longer a trend
Business and leisure travel are increasingly becoming one journey. A guest may arrive for meetings, work remotely from the hotel, invite a partner to join and extend into the weekend.

In Dubai Silicon Oasis, where business, innovation, education and residential communities converge, this overlap is particularly visible. Today’s bleisure traveller expects hotels to support both productivity and enjoyment through reliable technology, comfortable workspaces, dining, social areas, wellbeing and experiences.

The hotel is becoming the destination
Hotels are increasingly becoming community and lifestyle spaces, serving overnight guests alongside residents, professionals, families and social groups who come to work, dine, meet, celebrate or simply spend time together.

That shift is reflected in how Radisson RED approaches the hotel experience, the focus is not on one defining experience, but on giving guests plenty of reasons to engage throughout the day.

Breakfast can lead to time at the rooftop pool then picking up pace with a game of billiards, table tennis or VR, before the atmosphere shifts towards live sport, entertainment and comedy nights. The hotel’s art exhibitions, featuring artists from different parts of the world, add a cultural dimension to the stay. It is an approach that reflects how travel itself is evolving: guests are looking for more from the places they stay, and increasingly, the most memorable moments can happen without leaving the hotel.

And ultimately, the experience is shaped by people as much as places

A genuine conversation, thoughtful recommendation or unexpected moment of connection can create more value than an expensive feature. When employees feel trusted, connected to the brand and proud of what they offer, they create the moments that turn a stay into something guests remember.

    Shorter stays, greater purpose
Shorter Dubai stays are becoming more intentional. For travelers watching both time and spend, a two- or three-night break is increasingly about getting more from one stay, rather than trying to see everything the city has to offer. For regional travelers and UAE residents, the ease of reaching Dubai makes that extra night an increasingly attractive option, turning a spontaneous stay into a proper short break.

That is where Radisson RED Dubai Silicon Oasis is built differently, this creates an opportunity to rethink what a short stay can deliver. The property gives guests the flexibility to shape the experience around their own priorities, whether that means starting the day slowly, making time for a favourite activity, heading into the city or simply having a change of pace without a packed itinerary.

The result is a different kind of short break: long enough to feel like an escape, but still easy enough to fit into a busy schedule. As travelers become more deliberate about how they spend their time away, the two- and three-night stay is becoming less of an extension and more of the new short-break norm.

    What comes next?
Dubai’s tourism momentum is expected to strengthen through the final quarter, supported by improving weather, a strong events calendar, restored connectivity and returning long-haul markets. Bookings from the UK, Russia and CIS are showing signs of recovery, while GCC, domestic and regional markets continue to provide a resilient base.

But stronger demand will not benefit every hotel equally.

Travellers will continue to compare their options, making relevant experiences, flexibility, consistency and a distinctive identity increasingly important beyond price alone.

“After almost two decades in hospitality, I believe the fundamentals remain unchanged,” says Petridis. “Guests remember places where they felt understood, and those experiences are created by people who feel connected to the purpose and culture of the hotel.”

The travel market may be changing, but the principle remains simple: understand what guests value, give them greater control over their stay and create reasons to remember it.
