Kuwait: 7 September 2026: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) organized a specialized two-day training course for employees of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs, titled “Practical Applications of Sukuk as an Islamic Financial Product.” The course was delivered by Mohammad Al-Duwailah, General Manager of Treasury at KIB, with the aim of enhancing participants’ knowledge of Sukuk and deepening their understanding of its mechanisms and practical applications in the workplace and financial markets.

The course, which the Bank delivered on August 23 and 24, 2026, forms part of its comprehensive corporate social responsibility program and reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to capacity building and professional development, particularly in specialized financial and banking fields.

The course covered a comprehensive range of theoretical and practical topics, beginning with an introduction to the concept of Sukuk, their various types and structures, and the key distinctions between Sukuk and conventional bonds. It also examined the mechanisms underpinning primary and secondary Sukuk markets, the various types of returns and methodologies for their calculation, as well as the factors influencing Sukuk prices and their movements in financial markets.

The course also covered short-term and perpetual Sukuk and their various uses, alongside a number of practical applications designed to enhance participants’ ability to analyze and evaluate Sukuk as an investment instrument compliant with Islamic Sharia’ principles. The course targeted employees from the Authority’s investment, treasury, risk, operations, accounting, and finance departments, ensuring that the training content was closely aligned with their areas of specialization and job requirements.

Al-Duwailah said: “At KIB, we are committed to sharing our specialized banking expertise in ways that contribute to disseminating knowledge and developing professional capabilities across various financial and banking fields. Through this course, we sought to equip participants with specialized knowledge that provides them with a deeper understanding of Sukuk and their role within the broader Islamic finance ecosystem.”

Al-Duwaila added: “Sukuk are playing an increasingly important role in capital markets and Islamic finance. Accordingly, we were keen to ensure that the course combined technical knowledge with practical application, enabling participants to better understand Sukuk market dynamics, the factors influencing their pricing and returns, and how to apply this knowledge effectively in the workplace.”

For her part, Aliaa Fahad Al-Sager, Acting Director General at the Public Authority for Minors Affairs, said: “We value KIB’s initiative in delivering this specialized course and the opportunity it provided our employees to enhance their knowledge of Sukuk and gain a deeper understanding of their applications in financial markets. Such specialized training programs reflect our commitment to continuously developing the capabilities of our workforce and equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to support their professional performance.”

She added: “Collaborating with banking institutions and benefiting from their specialized expertise helps enrich the training experience and bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This supports our ongoing efforts to invest in human capital and enhance the capabilities of our employees in areas relevant to their respective specializations.”

It is worth noting that this initiative reflects KIB’s ongoing approach to building effective partnerships with various government institutions and contributing to initiatives that support sustainable development and create a lasting positive impact on society.
