KUWAIT: Kuwait is marking National Day and Liberation Day with streets, landmarks and institutions across the country illuminated in the colors of the national flag, as authorities affirmed full readiness to ensure celebrations proceed safely and in a manner reflecting the nation’s stature.

Every February, government and private buildings are adorned in green, white, red and black, while main roads and public spaces are decorated to express pride and belonging. From the Kuwait Towers overlooking the Arabian Gulf to various districts of the capital, flag-colored lights create a vibrant scene symbolizing loyalty and deep-rooted attachment to the homeland.

Meanwhile, Interior Ministry Undersecretary Lt Gen Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib stressed the importance of coordination among security sectors to ensure the 2026 national celebrations are held in a civilized and organized manner. Following a security meeting reviewing final preparations, Al-Wuhaib underlined full operational readiness, strict enforcement of the law and sustained field presence to oversee implementation of precautionary plans. He called for teamwork and vigilance to preserve public order and safety.

He also warned against improper practices that may accompany celebrations, including water spraying, obstructing traffic and placing oversized flags on vehicles that hinder visibility, noting such violations pose risks and are punishable by law. At the same time, he urged respectful treatment of the public and assistance for the elderly and people with disabilities. He concluded by noting that celebrating National Day and Liberation Day reflects citizens’ pride in their history, urging that expressions of joy align with Kuwaiti values and responsibility. – KUNA
