Reflecting continued progress in its sustainability strategy and ESG commitment

Kuwait, XX July 2026: Burgan Bank K.P.S.C. (“Burgan” or the “Bank”) announces that it remains a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series following the review by FTSE Russell in June 2026.

The FTSE4Good Index Series, developed by <a href="https://middleeastdaily.net/eat-guild-team-pakistan-creates-history-at-gccm-global-culinary-cup-malaysia-2026/”>global index and data provider FTSE Russell, is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. This index series is used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products. FTSE Russell evaluations are based on performance across areas including Corporate Governance, Health & Safety, Anti-Corruption, and Climate Change, with companies included in the index meeting a variety of environmental, social, and governance criteria.

Burgan Bank’s continued inclusion reflects the Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ESG framework, enhance transparency and disclosures, and embed sustainability considerations across its strategy, operations, risk management approach, and decision-making processes.

“Maintaining our inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series reflects the continued progress we are making in advancing our ESG practices, enhancing transparency, and embedding sustainability across our operations. At Burgan Bank, sustainability is an integral part of our long-term strategy and guides the way we create value for our clients, employees, communities, and stakeholders. We remain committed to advancing our ESG agenda in line with global standards while supporting sustainable growth and long-term value creation,” commented Mr. Fadel Abdullah, CEO – Kuwait at Burgan Bank.

Building on this foundation, Burgan Bank continues to translate its ESG commitments into measurable initiatives across environmental, social, and governance areas, strengthening responsible business practices and enhancing long-term stakeholder value.

Over the past years, Burgan Bank has made notable progress in integrating environmental considerations into its core business activities, including its lending practices and risk management approach. Approximately 70% of its corporate portfolio has been assessed for ESG-related risks and opportunities, reflecting its continued focus on responsible financing and enhanced risk assessment. The Bank has also contributed to economic development by extending KD 100 million in SME financing and allocating KD 23.5 million toward sustainability-focused projects in 2025. These efforts contribute to aligning the Bank’s portfolio, which is gradually converging with global sustainability trends, thereby reinforcing its approach to responsible lending.

Environmental stewardship continues to be a key priority for Burgan Bank’s ESG agenda, with an increased focus on supporting lower-carbon and resource-efficient activities, expanding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tracking, and developing science-aligned decarbonization pathways. The Bank also maintained its LEED Gold certification for operations and maintenance at its head office building, alongside advancing its waste management practices.

On the social front, the Bank further reinforced its commitment to supporting clients, communities, and employees. It achieved Great Place to Work® certification and introduced initiatives to enhance employee well-being, including flexible working arrangements and mental health programs. Its commitment to diversity and inclusion was reflected in various women’s empowerment and leadership initiatives implemented throughout the year.

The Bank also continued to strengthen its Kuwaitization efforts by investing in the development of national talent, enhancing career growth opportunities, and fostering a future-ready workforce that contributes to the continued advancement of Kuwait’s banking sector. As an extension of its developmental role beyond the workplace, Burgan Bank continued to deliver effective community contributions through partnerships and initiatives focused on areas such as financial literacy, including the ‘Let’s Be Aware’ (Diraya) campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in cooperation with the Kuwait Banking Association and local banks, as well as entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

From a governance perspective, Burgan Bank continued to strengthen its governance framework, achieving ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System certification while further enhancing cybersecurity, data governance, and enterprise resilience capabilities to support sustainable long-term growth.

In parallel, the Bank further enhanced its ESG data capabilities, transparency, and governance frameworks, enabling more consistent measurement of environmental and social performance and improved alignment with evolving investor expectations and international standards.

Looking ahead, Burgan Bank will continue to build on this momentum by expanding its sustainable finance activities, deepening engagement on environmental and social matters, and enhancing ESG-related disclosures and performance tracking. These efforts align with national priorities, including Kuwait Vision 2035, while supporting Burgan Bank’s ambition to deliver sustainable growth and long-term value creation for its stakeholders.
