Emirates joins UAE-Kuwait week celebrations, honouring decades of enduring ties

Dubai, UAE, 4 February 2026 – Emirates marked UAE-Kuwait Week with a series of special onboard initiatives, marking the longstanding ties that unite the UAE and the State of Kuwait.

the occasion, the airline introduced a special selection of traditional desserts across all cabin classes on its 30 weekly flights between Dubai and Kuwait. This included a Pistachio Rahash Tart served in all cabin classes, alongside a Gahwa Tart for First and Business class passengers, and a Toffee Date Cake for passengers traveling in Premium Economy and Economy Class. The airline also lined up special onboard announcements, highlighting the significance of the week.

Throughout the week, passengers also enjoyed a wide range of Arabic content, including popular Kuwaiti movies and TV shows like Gergasha, Fath Hesab, Al Sohba Al Holwa, and Darb Al Zalag, among others, and music albums from renowned Kuwaiti artists like Abdallah Al Rowaished, Mutref Al Mutref, and Nabeel Shuail.

Flight EK855 on 2 February was commanded by a Kuwaiti national, Captain Husain Alabdulmohsen and Emirati First Officer, Ishaq Abdulla, symbolising the cooperation, shared values and long-standing, deep-rooted partnership that has existed between both nations and peoples.

Kuwait was among the first GCC destinations in the airline’s network, when Emirates launched services in 1989. The route was initially served with a Boeing 727, operating just 2 weekly flights. Today, 29 out of the 30 weekly flights are operated by retrofitted Boeing 777s and the latest Airbus A350s, all offering the highly popular Premium Economy cabin, alongside the airline’s signature products across every cabin class. Over the past three decades, Emirates has carried more than 16 million passengers on over 81,000 flights to and from Kuwait, connecting travellers to Dubai and beyond, to more than 150 global destinations across its network. Kuwait is also home to more than 268,000 Emirates Skywards members.

Kuwait was also one of Emirates’ first few destinations to welcome the Airbus A350 when the aircraft entered service in January 2025. The airline now operates two daily A350 flights between Dubai and Kuwait, offering passengers an enhanced onboard experience, including wider aisles, quieter cabins, signature tech touches, advanced lighting designed to reduce jet lag, and the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system – ice.

Emirates and Kuwait Airways also have an interline agreement connecting both networks. Signed last year, the interline partnership provides Kuwait Airways’ passengers with access to 19 destinations on the Emirates network including Australia, China, Japan, the United States and South Africa, among others. Emirates’ customers can benefit from enhanced access to regional destinations across the Kuwait Airways’ network, including Egypt, Iraq, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Beyond air travel, Emirates continues to support trade between Kuwait and the world, operating a weekly freighter service. Over the last five years, Emirates SkyCargo has transported more than 165,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Kuwait on its freighter and in the belly-hold of its passenger aircraft, carrying fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and Mail and Courier shipments into Kuwait, and supporting its many local businesses to export their products to the Emirates network and beyond.
