foodpanda and HBL expand strategic partnership for greater digital payment adoption

    By Rafiq Vayani

ISLAMABAD: foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading online delivery platform, has deepened its multi-year strategic partnership with HBL, the country’s largest private bank. The expanded collaboration is part of the next phase of a long-standing alliance, combining foodpanda’s digital platform reach with HBL’s banking ecosystem to deliver tailored financial products and digital payment solutions for Pakistan’s youth.

As Pakistan’s consumer landscape rapidly evolves, digital channels have transitioned from a convenient alternative to an everyday lifestyle default. Digital payment adoption on foodpanda has steadily grown, with nearly half of all orders now made through online payments. This shift is reflected alongside foodpanda’s sustained momentum across both food and grocery, signalling a broader consumer transition towards convenient, cashless digital commerce.

Building upon existing joint campaign successes, the expanded partnership introduces a new dimension to the relationship. A central aspect of this next chapter includes the rollout of youth-centric card propositions designed to bridge daily digital lifestyle habits with accessible financial services. Cardholders will benefit from integrated perks, including exclusive sign up rewards, targeted promotional offers, and elevated pandapro loyalty privileges.

“Our evolving relationship with HBL reflects a shared vision to serve as essential digital infrastructure for Pakistan’s younger generation,” said M. Abu Bakar Siddiqi, Head of Retail Media & Partnerships, foodpanda Pakistan. “By connecting HBL’s financial expertise with a platform our young customers rely on every day, we are making digital transactions smoother than ever, rewarding, and relevant to their daily routines. Expanding this partnership allows us to boost cashless adoption while creating long-term value for the millions of digitally connected consumers we serve.”

HBL holds a dominant position in consumer finance and digital banking, where nearly nine out of ten transactions now take place via digital channels, alongside its strong position in credit card market share.

As digital adoption continues to grow among Pakistan’s tech-savvy youth, there is an increasing opportunity to integrate intuitive financial solutions into the digital experiences they use every day. Building stronger connections between foodpanda and HBL can help create a more inclusive, accessible and digitally fluent financial ecosystem that responds to the evolving needs of the next generation.

Looking ahead, foodpanda and HBL will continue to activate consumer experiences across both digital channels and offline activations nationwide, establishing a benchmark for collaboration in Pakistan’s growing digital economy.
