Karandaaz Backs Kissan Gudam to Empower Smallholder Farmers Through Digital Financing and Modern Storage Solutions

ISLAMABAD: Karandaaz Pakistan has entered into a partnership with Kissan Gudam, a venture of the Hajisons Group, providing funding and strategic support designed to strengthen Pakistan’s farming communities and modernise the agricultural ecosystem. By unifying modern storage infrastructure, digital financial services, and direct market access into a single seamless platform, the collaboration will help smallholder farmers protect their yields, access fair credit through Electronic Warehouse Receipt (EWR)-based financing, and secure sustainable livelihoods while reducing post-harvest losses, boosting market transparency, and bringing farmers into the formal financial ecosystem.

Kissan Gudam brings a pioneering model that bridges hermetic storage technology with digital trading and agri-financing with hermetic storage solutions from GrainPro, a global provider of post-harvest storage technology. Compared to conventional warehouses, GrainPro’s hermetic cocoons are affordable and portable, allowing installation close to farming communities to reduce transportation costs and losses, while preserving the quality and quantity of stored crops and increasing their reliability as collateral. Supported by this partnership, Kissan Gudam will scale its post-harvest ecosystem across rural Pakistan, ensuring broader financial inclusion and equitable growth for farming communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Karandaaz Pakistan CEO Waqas ul Hasan said: “Pakistan’s agricultural economy requires more than access to credit for completeness; it requires the infrastructure and market linkages that allow finance to work effectively. Through this partnership, we are supporting a model that can localize storage close to farmers who need it and create an ecosystem which allows them to avail of higher returns on their produce whilst at the same time enabling the public sector to exit out from commodity markets without compromising national food security. It can have a transformational effect.”

Highlighting the vision behind the collaboration, Kissan Gudam CEO Farhan Tahir stated: “By equipping farmers with the tools to preserve their produce’s value, access formal credit, and connect with better markets, we are building pathways to financial security, climate-resilient storage, and stronger livelihoods across rural Pakistan.” Through a centralised digital solution, the two organisations will combine technology-enabled storage monitoring with warehouse receipt financing. Anam Tahir, Co-Founder and CTO of Kissan Gudam, explained that the platform’s digital wallet is linked directly to the warehouse infrastructure, enabling stored produce to be reliably verified and used as collateral – unlocking collateral-backed financing disbursed in minutes instead of the weeks it traditionally took.

The signing ceremony was attended by Tom A. Peter, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy Islamabad who called the partnership a strong example of US–Pakistan collaboration in agriculture – with US based GrainPro’s hermetic storage technology driving measurable impact for smallholder farmers and Pakistan’s formal agricultural economy.

Through this partnership, Karandaaz Pakistan and Kissan Gudam aim to digitally transform Pakistan’s agricultural value chain by expanding smallholder farmers’ access to modern storage, financial services, and market opportunities.
