Kuwait, 17 May 2026: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) celebrated the outstanding results achieved by Kuwait’s champions during the first week of the 4th GCC Games, currently taking place in Doha, Qatar. The event has brought together broad participation from GCC countries and features a high level of competition across various sports.

KIB continues to support and stand alongside the Kuwaiti sports delegation as part of its official sponsorship of Kuwait’s participation in the Games, reflecting the Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kuwaiti athletes and empowering them to represent Kuwait in the best possible light at regional sporting events.

In a gesture reflecting the Bank’s commitment to supporting the Kuwaiti sports delegation, Marwa Marafie, Manager of the Corporate Communications Department at KIB, and Abdulaziz Al-Thawab, Assistant Manager of the Corporate Communications Department, accompanied Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, Head of the Delegation Abdullah Shaaban, and Deputy Head of the Delegation Dr. Souad Al-Faqaan on a visit to Kuwaiti athletes, equestrians, and competitors participating in the Games. The visit aimed to encourage the athletes ahead of their competitions and check on their wellbeing, reflecting a strong spirit of solidarity and support for the Kuwaiti delegation throughout this important regional sporting event.

Kuwait’s champions achieved outstanding results during the first week of the Games, winning a total of 38 medals, including 6 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 18 bronze medals. These achievements reflect the exceptional technical level of Kuwaiti athletes and their strong competitive spirit across the various Gulf competitions. The Games also witnessed a strong showing by Kuwaiti athletes across several individual and team sports, with hopes of securing further achievements in the coming days.

Commenting on the occasion, Marafie said: “We are proud of the outstanding performances and strong competitive spirit demonstrated by Kuwait’s champions throughout the Games. Our support for the Kuwaiti delegation stems from our belief in the importance of empowering Kuwaiti youth and supporting athletes across various sporting events, contributing to strengthening Kuwait’s sporting presence and raising its flag high.”

Marafie added: “At KIB, we believe that sports serve as an important platform for reinforcing the values of ambition, discipline, and teamwork. That is why we remain committed to supporting sports initiatives and events that contribute to developing the capabilities of Kuwaiti youth and motivating them to achieve further accomplishments.”

From his side, Al-Thawab said: “The Bank’s role extends beyond sponsorship to include media and morale support, as well as accompanying the Kuwaiti delegation throughout the Games. This reflects the importance of integrated efforts between the public and private sectors to support national sports and strengthen Kuwait’s presence across Gulf and regional sporting arenas. We wish the Kuwaiti delegation continued success and outstanding results in the upcoming competitions, further reinforcing the standing of Kuwaiti sports and showcasing its promising talent and potential.”

The Games feature a diverse range of competitions, including athletics, swimming, handball, 3×3 basketball, shooting, padel, equestrian sports, fencing, karate, taekwondo, archery, bowling, billiards, and snooker, along with several other team and individual sports. The event brings together elite Gulf athletes in a competitive atmosphere that reflects the continued development of sports across the region.

It is worth noting that KIB continues to strengthen its role as an active partner in supporting national and community initiatives through its comprehensive social responsibility strategy, which is centered on investing in people, empowering youth, and supporting vital sectors, foremost among them the sports sector. The Bank remains committed to sponsoring initiatives and events that help develop Kuwaiti talent and promote a culture of athletic excellence and achievement. This commitment is driven by its belief in the importance of sports in building a more vibrant and cohesive society, in line with Kuwait’s aspirations for sustainable and inclusive development.
