Honoring the Physicians Shaping the Future of Healthcare

MADINAH, Saudi Arabia: In an evening defined by excellence, gratitude, and professional distinction, Biz Today International Magazine proudly hosted the International Healthcare Professionals Awards, a prestigious ceremony dedicated to recognizing an exceptional group of physicians, surgeons, professors, and healthcare leaders whose achievements continue to elevate medical practice, scientific advancement, education, and patient care across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Held in the historic city of Madinah, the ceremony brought together some of the region’s most accomplished medical professionals in a celebration that reflected not only individual achievement but also the remarkable progress of Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector. The event served as a tribute to those whose careers have become synonymous with innovation, compassion, academic excellence, and lifelong dedication to improving human health.

Unlike traditional award ceremonies, the International Healthcare Professionals Awards was conceived as a platform to recognize physicians whose influence extends beyond hospitals and operating theatres. The honourees represent leaders in trauma care, neurosurgery, pediatric medicine, orthopedic surgery, oncology, urology, dermatology, rheumatology, anesthesiology, clinical pharmacy, otolaryngology, and academic medicine professionals whose work continues to shape the future of healthcare both nationally and internationally.

A defining moment of the evening was the keynote lecture delivered by Dr. Doaa Abdulaziz Alfraidy, Executive Director of Medical Affairs at King Salman Medical City and Trauma Service Line Lead in the Madinah Region. Her presentation, “From Trauma Care to Healthcare Transformation: Lessons in Excellence,” explored how the principles of trauma medicine including rapid decision-making, multidisciplinary collaboration, system optimization, and patient-centered leadership offer valuable lessons for transforming healthcare systems as a whole. The lecture inspired attendees by demonstrating how excellence in emergency and trauma care can become a blueprint for broader institutional success.

The evening also welcomed the presence of distinguished medical leader

Dr. Abbas bin Ali Qamqamji, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, whose attendance reflected his longstanding commitment to supporting medical excellence and the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Throughout the ceremony, each award symbolized far more than professional recognition. It represented decades of commitment to healing patients, advancing medical science, mentoring future physicians, conducting impactful research, and strengthening healthcare institutions. Collectively, the twelve honorees embody the values that define modern medicine: knowledge, integrity, innovation, leadership, and service to humanity.

    Honorees

Dr. Doaa Abdulaziz Alfraidy: Trauma and Acute Care Consultant, Critical Care Consultant, Trauma Service Line Lead for the Madinah Region, and Executive Director of Medical Affairs at King Salman Medical City.

Dr. Abdullah Eiyad Aboalfaraj: Consultant Otolaryngologist and Pediatric Otolaryngologist, Director of Ohud Hospital, Madinah.

Professor Abdullah Ahmed Ghazi: Consultant Urologist and Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeon, Head of Graduate Medical Education at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre – Madinah, and Head of the Voiding Dysfunction and Reconstruction Group at the Saudi Urology Association.

Professor Mohammed Adnan Zolaly: Professor at the College of Medicine, Taibah University, and Consultant Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz National Guard Hospital.

Dr. Feras Qumqumji: Adult and Pediatric Spine Surgery Consultant, Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program Director, Clinical Assistant Professor, and one of Saudi Arabia’s distinguished specialists in complex spinal surgery.

Professor Hani Mahmoud J. Khojah: Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Taibah University, internationally recognized among Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists worldwide, contributor to World Health Organization medicine quality initiatives, and researcher in pharmaceutical innovation and anticancer therapeutics.

    Dr

Roaa Aljohani: Associate Professor at Taibah University, Consultant Rheumatologist, Canadian Fellowship graduate from the University of Toronto, and former Vice Dean of the College of Medical Rehabilitation.

Dr. Mashael Muwanis: Assistant Professor, Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic and Limb Deformity Surgeon, internationally trained in Canada, and recognized as the first Saudi woman to earn the Canadian FRCSC in Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Ahmad AlShenkiti: Consultant Pediatric Neurosurgeon at King Salman Medical City and one of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering specialists in pediatric neurosurgery and functional neurosurgical innovation, as first neurosurgical treatment for persistent depression in the Middle East.

Dr. Amr A. Molla: Associate Professor of Dermatology, Consultant Dermatologist, Cutaneous Surgery and Laser Specialist, internationally trained at the University of Miami, USA.

    Dr

Mazen Alsulami: Associate Consultant in Anesthesiology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, internationally trained in Germany with extensive expertise in emergency medicine, neuro-intensive care, and anesthesiology.

Dr. Khalid Amin Abduldaem: Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz National Guard Hospital, dedicated to advancing orthopedic surgical care in the Madinah region.

A Celebration Beyond Recognition: The International Healthcare Professionals Awards 2026 represented far more than an awards ceremony. It reflected a culture of appreciation for medical professionals whose expertise continues to transform lives, strengthen institutions, educate future generations, and advance healthcare across Saudi Arabia.

By bringing together leaders from diverse medical specialties under one roof, the event highlighted the collaborative spirit that drives modern medicine and reinforces the Kingdom’s growing reputation as a regional and global centre for healthcare excellence.

As Saudi Arabia continues its ambitious healthcare transformation, the achievements celebrated during this remarkable evening stand as powerful reminders that sustainable progress begins with visionary physicians, dedicated educators, pioneering researchers, and compassionate clinicians whose work leaves a lasting impact on society.

International Healthcare Professionals Awards was ultimately a celebration of service, scientific excellence, leadership, and humanity—values that continue to define the future of medicine, both within the Kingdom and far beyond its borders.
