Ooredoo Kuwait Advances AI-Driven Network with Successful Deployment of NWDAF Technology

Issa Haidar: “We are moving from reacting to network issues to predicting and addressing them proactively”

    Kuwait City, Kuwait – 12 August 2026:

Ooredoo Kuwait, the leading telecommunications and technology provider and recipient of the Telecom Company of the Year award, has successfully deployed the Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF), marking another milestone in the company’s drive to build a smarter, data-driven network capable of turning insights into action, optimising performance and enabling more proactive decision-making.NWDAF is an advanced network function within the 5G Core architecture, standardised under 3GPP specifications. It collects, processes and analyses network, service and user-performance data from multiple sources, transforming it into actionable analytics and insights that can help optimise network performance, improve operational efficiency and support faster, more informed decision-making.

The technology also enables the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to identify patterns, detect anomalies and anticipate potential network requirements. This creates the foundation for a more proactive approach to network management, helping strengthen service continuity and maintain high levels of performance and quality.

The deployment forms part of Ooredoo Kuwait’s broader technology strategy, which focuses on strengthening its digital infrastructure and making greater use of the growing volume of network data to provide operational teams <a href="https://middleeastdaily.net/etihad-guest-launches-frequent-flyer-partnership-with-starlux-airlines-cosmile/”>with deeper visibility into network performance and support timely decision-making.

From Network Management to Predictive Intelligence

As 5G Standalone (5G SA) networks continue to expand and digital services become increasingly data-intensive, the ability to monitor and analyse network performance in real time has become critical to maintaining service quality and stability.

Against this backdrop, NWDAF provides an advanced analytics layer within the 5G network architecture, enabling network data to be transformed into insights that can support performance optimisation, resource management and early identification of potential issues before they affect service quality.

The deployment represents a shift in the way networks can be managed; from a model that primarily responds to issues after they occur to a more predictive and proactive approach, supported by advanced analytics, AI and machine learning (ML).

Keeping the Customer Experience at the Centre

The impact of NWDAF extends beyond network performance and operational efficiency to the customer experience. Its analytical capabilities can help identify early indicators of potential service degradation, enabling network teams to take corrective action before issues have a noticeable impact on customers.

The technology can also support more efficient network resource management, helping prioritise services and respond to the requirements of different customer segments while maintaining high levels of Quality of Experience (QoE).

Commenting on the deployment, Issa Haidar, Chief Technology Officer at Ooredoo Kuwait, said:

“Data has become one of the most valuable assets in the telecommunications industry, while the ability to transform that data into intelligent, real-time insights is becoming increasingly important to the future of networks and their operations. The successful deployment of NWDAF is an important milestone in Ooredoo Kuwait’s journey towards building a smarter network that can anticipate and adapt to changing requirements.”

    He added:

“By integrating AI-powered advanced analytics into our network infrastructure, we are developing a more proactive operating model that enables us to anticipate network requirements, continuously optimise performance and, most importantly, enhance the experience we deliver to our customers.”

    Haidar continued:

“The significance of this technology goes beyond network performance. It also supports greater operational efficiency and automation, while laying an important foundation for more autonomous capabilities in the future; including predictive network optimisation, intelligent traffic management, automated service assurance and, ultimately, closed-loop automation.”

Building Towards a More Autonomous Network

The deployment of NWDAF represents an important component of Ooredoo Kuwait’s vision for a data-driven, AI-enabled network capable of continuously learning, adapting and improving its performance.

By integrating AI and advanced analytics into network operations, Ooredoo Kuwait is laying the foundations for higher levels of automation and network autonomy. Over time, this can enable the network to identify potential challenges, predict emerging requirements and support appropriate corrective actions with less reliance on manual intervention.

The approach reflects Ooredoo Kuwait’s strategy of investing in next-generation technologies not simply as technical capabilities, but as tools capable of delivering tangible improvements in service quality, customer experience and operational efficiency.

The initiative forms part of the company’s wider digital transformation strategy, which brings together technologies including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, advanced analytics and automation to build a more intelligent, flexible and responsive communications infrastructure.

By continuing to invest in its technology infrastructure and adopt advanced connectivity solutions, Ooredoo Kuwait is strengthening its digital capabilities and preparing its network for the next phase of connectivity — keeping pace with the rapid evolution of the telecommunications sector while reinforcing its position as a leading digital services provider in Kuwait.
