SBC Summit Malta to Spotlight Next-Gen Tech Driving the Future of Sports Betting

SBC Summit Malta 2025 will place the future of sports betting at the heart of its agenda with the launch of the Next-Gen Sports Betting track, a forward-looking series of sessions exploring the technologies, player behaviours, and product strategies fuelling the next phase of industry growth.

Taking place on Thursday, 12 June at the InterContinental Hotel in St Julian’s, the track will feature five expert-led sessions covering AI integration, the emerging esports betting market, and the future of in-play betting across multiple sports.

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “Sports betting is being redefined in real time—by new technologies, new user habits, and new content formats. This track offers a direct line into the innovations and strategic shifts betting professionals need to understand to remain competitive in an increasingly fragmented market.”

The track will open with a session exploring how traditional sports betting operators are embracing new technologies to attract the next generation of bettors. What’s Next for Sports Betting? will unite Billy Cook (iGaming Consultant), Simon Flynn (Sports Betting Consultant), Nika Gigashvili (Managing Director / Partner, SMH), and Nick Laconico (CEO, Megabet Plus) to examine how real-time betting, AI-powered insights, and emerging player trends are transforming the industry to meet demands for faster, more interactive, and personalised betting experiences.

The panel Football – Is In-Play Betting Slipping Away? will examine the future of in-play betting, long considered a cornerstone of the sports betting experience. As audiences shift from watching full matches to consuming highlights and short-form content on platforms such as TikTok, how will the industry adapt? Mkhitar Kafyan (Product Marketing Manager, Totogaming), Owen Ordway (Head of Sports, Rooster), and Russell Yershon (CEO, Connecting Brands) will explore how changing viewing habits are affecting live engagement and what operators can do to keep pace with evolving fan behaviour.

The session Modularisation of Sportsbook Platforms – The Future of Flexibility & Speed will look at how breaking up sportsbook systems into flexible parts is helping operators move faster and stay competitive. Kurt Carabott (Product Consultant), Sam Goodall (Senior Account Manager, Square in the Air), Denis Romanovskiy (Deputy CTO, SOFTSWISS), and Simon Westbury (Sportsbetting Expert) will explore how modular architecture supports quicker product rollouts, greater control, and better adaptability to market changes.

The track also includes two practical workshops designed to help delegates strengthen their betting knowledge. Why Betting on Esports Isn’t Dead. It’s Just Beginning will see Christoffer Andersson (COO, 500.casino) and Simon Westbury (Sportsbetting Expert) lead a hands-on session on how esports is changing the betting landscape. Meanwhile, the Exclusive Sports Trading Academy, Enhance Your Betting and Modelling Skills, hosted by Jonathan Smith (Founder, Sportsbook Training Services & Sportsbook Models), will cover the basics of how odds are set, why they change, how to manage betting budgets, and what new trends are shaping the industry.

The wider SBC Summit Malta 2025 agenda also features the Europe: Regulation & Compliance track, addressing cross-border licensing hurdles and regulatory harmonisation, and Casino Evolution, where industry leaders will spotlight breakthrough gaming technologies reshaping player experiences.

Secure your spot at SBC Summit Malta with our discounted ‘Group Pass’. For groups of three or more, you can gain access to three days of networking, exhibition, and conference content for the price of €400 (a discount of €200 off a Full Event Pass).

Additionally, you can purchase our ‘Expo+ Pass’ for €150. This pass grants you access to the conference and exhibition only.

Operators and affiliates can apply for complimentary passes, granting them full access to the event.
