Luxury destination transforms its iconic lobby into an evolving cultural showcase, providing a distinguished platform for local and regional artists while honoring the property’s deep-rooted connection to art and design.

Kuwait, 24 August 2026: Art has always been central to Waldorf Astoria Kuwait experience, reflected throughout the property’s curated collection of bespoke installations, architectural details, and exceptional craftsmanship. Building on this artistic foundation, the hotel will unveil a three-month exhibition celebrating the region’s creative talent, bringing together distinguished artists from Kuwait and the wider region in an immersive cultural showcase.

Running from September through November 2026, the exhibition will showcase the hotel’s iconic lobby into a dynamic gallery where heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary artistic expression come together. The showcase will feature four acclaimed artists working across diverse disciplines, including wood sculpture, glass art contemporary Arabic calligraphy, and thread art, with each presenting unique works created to complement the spirit and identity of Waldorf Astoria Kuwait.

Commenting on the cultural initiative, Saleh Bataineh, General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Kuwait, stated: “At Waldorf Astoria Kuwait, we believe that true luxury hospitality extends beyond exceptional service; it is about creating meaningful connections and enriching the communities we are part of. As someone who has always had a deep appreciation for art, I am especially excited to see this exhibition come to life and have no doubt it will become a remarkable platform for artistic expression and cultural dialogue. Art has always been a defining element of our identity, and through this exhibition, we are proud to provide a distinguished platform for local and regional artists to share their stories, inspire our guests, and encourage creative dialogue. We hope every visitor discovers a new perspective and leaves with a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich artistic landscape”.

The exhibition will feature acclaimed wood artist Yahya Abduljaleel Jeragh, founder of Khashabaty, whose handcrafted creations celebrate the beauty and history of reclaimed and centuries-old timber. Inspired by organic forms and traditional craftsmanship, Jeragh transforms rare natural materials into sculptural works that preserve the character and heritage of wood. Created exclusively for Waldorf Astoria Kuwait, The Final Beginning features three teak wood sculptures carved from more than 150-year-old trunks, inspired by the traditional mabkhara and reflecting the enduring relationship between nature, heritage, and craftsmanship.

Adding a distinctive dimension to the showcase, Mohammed S. Alduwaisan, founder of Gizaz Art Academy, brings together Italian glassmaking techniques with Arabian narratives and Kuwait’s natural landscapes. Recognized as a pioneer in regional glass sculpture, Alduwaisan has represented Kuwait at international platforms including Expo Dubai and the Diriyah Biennale. For the exhibition, he will unveil Waldorf Astoria Daza, a handcrafted bridal collection in borosilicate glass featuring mirrors, mabkharas, and ceremonial accessories that reinterpret Kuwaiti traditions through contemporary glass artistry.

The exhibition will also showcase the contemporary Arabic calligraphy of Abeer Javed, who reinterprets traditional script through a refined and minimalist approach. Her work combines meaningful verses with elegant textures and harmonious color palettes, creating a dialogue between heritage and contemporary design. For Waldorf Astoria Kuwait, Javed will present an exclusive monumental three-panel composition featuring Surah Al-Ikhlas, Salawat upon the Prophet, and Ayat Al-Kursi, offering a contemplative interpretation of Islamic calligraphy.

Completing the lineup is artist and entrepreneur Maisam Qassem, whose intricate thread artworks celebrate Gulf heritage and the traditional craft of Sadu weaving. Through the combination of wood, leather, nails, and textiles, Qassem transforms traditional techniques into contemporary expressions of cultural identity. As part of the exhibition, she will create a bespoke thread artwork live throughout November, reimagining Kuwait’s historic Quarter Dinar banknote and inviting guests to witness the evolution of heritage into contemporary art.

Developed by Mabanee, Waldorf Astoria Kuwait was envisioned as a living canvas where contemporary design and artistic expression coexist seamlessly. Today, the hotel’s public spaces, signature suites, and fine dining venues feature a museum-quality permanent collection of local, regional, and international artworks. Continuing this legacy, the exhibition will introduce a selection of original commissions and one-of-a-kind creations developed exclusively for the property, further strengthening the connection between art, architecture, and hospitality.

Through this exhibition, Waldorf Astoria Kuwait reinforces its position as a cultural destination where luxury hospitality, distinctive design, and authentic storytelling converge to celebrate the region’s evolving creative landscape.
