KIB promotes banking awareness among American International University students during orientation for new students

Kuwait, 19 September 2026: In line with its continued support for the banking awareness campaign “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya), launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banking Association in collaboration with local banks, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) participated in the new student orientation at the American International University (AIU), held at the start of the new academic year. The participation formed part of the Bank’s efforts to support youth and strengthen their banking knowledge and awareness, particularly around the safe use of banking services and ways to protect themselves from fraud.

The event saw the participation of a KIB team, which engaged directly with students and responded to their questions, while also providing advice and guidance on best practices for protecting their accounts and banking information from fraud attempts. The team also introduced students to the key risks associated with the use of banking and digital services and explained how to navigate them safely.

The Bank’s team also emphasized the importance of safeguarding banking information and never sharing PINs, passwords, or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone. Students were also advised to remain cautious when dealing with suspicious links, messages, and phone calls.

Commenting on the participation, Mariam Al-Nasser, Head of Branches and Premier Banking from KIB’s Retail Banking Department said: “University events provide an important opportunity to engage with students as they begin a new stage in their lives and introduce them to the essential practices they should follow when managing their accounts and using banking and digital services. Through these engagements, we aim to highlight some of the most common methods used by fraudsters, explain how to recognize and avoid fraud attempts, and reinforce the importance of exercising caution when faced with requests for banking information or personal data. We are also committed to presenting this guidance in a practical and accessible way, helping students develop sound banking habits from the very beginning of their banking journey.”

KIB’s participation in the event reflects its continued commitment to promoting financial and banking literacy across different segments of society, with a particular focus on youth, while contributing to the adoption of responsible and secure practices when using banking and digital services.

Through its participation in the orientation, KIB sought to establish direct channels of communication with students and provide banking information in a clear and accessible manner, helping to strengthen their financial awareness and empower them to make safer decisions from the start of their university journey.

It is worth noting that KIB continues to support educational and community initiatives aimed at building a generation that is more financially and banking-aware, while empowering young people to protect their personal information and accounts and use modern banking services safely.
