Kuwait, 14th September 2026: Ooredoo Kuwait, the leading telecommunications company and recipient of the Inspiring Workplace and Best Workplace awards, has announced the successful completion of the first cohort of its “Jeel O” training programme. Designed for university students and recent graduates, the programme aims to attract and develop young talent while providing participants with hands-on experience at one of the region’s leading telecommunications companies.
The programme forms part of Ooredoo Kuwait’s broader strategy to invest in national talent and equip young people with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving market, particularly amid the accelerating transformation of the telecommunications, technology and digital economy sectors.
Running for four weeks, Jeel O gave participants an opportunity to experience Ooredoo Kuwait’s working environment firsthand through an interactive, practical programme spanning several key functions, including Business-to-Consumer (B2C), Business-to-Business (B2B), Marketing, Corporate Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Strategy and Technology.
The programme’s cross-functional approach enabled participants to gain a broader understanding of corporate operations and how different business functions work together to achieve organisational objectives and deliver a seamless customer experience. It also helped develop a range of practical and professional skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, innovative thinking and adaptability.
Future Skills at the Heart of the Programme
Jeel O placed a strong emphasis on developing the skills increasingly sought after in today’s market, with a particular focus on digital technologies, network operations, customer experience, innovation and cross-functional collaboration.
The programme extended beyond theoretical learning, adopting a hands-on approach that enabled participants to engage directly with Ooredoo teams. This gave them the opportunity to explore different career paths, gain insight into the telecommunications and technology sectors, and develop a clearer understanding of the areas in which they could build their future careers.
Building National Talent
As part of its ongoing commitment to developing national talent, Ooredoo Kuwait continues to enhance its training programmes and initiatives in line with the evolving needs of the labour market. The company’s efforts focus on future skills, leadership, innovation and digital transformation, helping equip Kuwaiti talent to compete and contribute to the future of the digital economy.
Commenting on the programme, Omar Al Bassam, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer at Ooredoo Kuwait, said:
“At Ooredoo, we believe that investing in human capital is the most sustainable investment we can make, and that the future of the telecommunications and technology sectors begins with empowering young people, giving them opportunities to discover and develop their capabilities, and turning their ambitions into tangible achievements.”
He added: “Jeel O reflects our vision of moving beyond traditional training towards a comprehensive experience that places young people at the heart of the workplace, giving them a genuine opportunity to learn, participate and engage with different areas of the company.”
Al Bassam emphasised that young talent is an integral part of both Ooredoo Kuwait’s present and its future. He highlighted the company’s commitment to creating an environment where young men and women alike can learn from experienced professionals, gain practical experience, explore different career paths, and develop their capabilities in technology, innovation, digital skills and cross-functional collaboration.
“Our responsibility towards Kuwaiti talent goes beyond providing a training or employment opportunity. It is an ongoing responsibility that begins with building skills and extends to mentoring, development, creating opportunities for growth and empowering young people to take on responsibility,” he said.
“Through these efforts, we aim to enhance young people’s readiness to compete and play an active role in leading Kuwait’s digital and economic transformation, in line with the objectives of New Kuwait Vision 2035.”
Empowering Young Talent
From his side, Eisa Al-Beshaier, Senior Director of Human Resources at Ooredoo Kuwait, said the company is developing an integrated journey for young talent that begins after graduation and continues into the workforce.
He explained that Jeel O was designed to give participants the opportunity to discover their capabilities and put their skills to the test in a real-world working environment.
“We believe the best way to prepare young people for the workforce is to give them the opportunity to experience it firsthand,” Al Beshaier said. “That is why the programme was designed to go beyond theory, allowing participants to engage with different teams and gain exposure to a wide range of functions, from Marketing, Corporate Communications and Human Resources to Technology, Strategy, and the B2B and B2C businesses.”
Al Beshaier noted that this breadth of exposure gives participants a more comprehensive understanding of the sector while helping them recognise how different disciplines connect and collaborate to achieve organisational goals.
He stressed that investing in young people represents a long-term commitment, noting that Ooredoo continues to evolve its training programmes in line with changes in the labour market, with a focus on critical thinking, innovation, teamwork, adaptability and continuous learning, alongside technical skills.
Creating Clearer Career Paths
Meanwhile, Sarah Al Jassar, Learning Management and Talent Management Specialist at Ooredoo Kuwait, expressed her pride in the successful completion of the first Jeel O cohort, highlighting the programme’s role in providing a comprehensive investment in Kuwaiti youth by developing their capabilities, strengthening their skills and preparing them to build successful careers.
“We are proud to have completed the first cohort of Jeel O, which represents a comprehensive investment in Kuwaiti youth, aimed at building their capabilities, developing their skills and empowering them to become future leaders and active contributors to their communities,” Al Jassar said.
“We look forward to seeing the programme’s graduates continue their journey towards greater success and use the knowledge and experience they have gained to help build a more innovative and sustainable future.”
