KARACHI: Interest among Pakistani businesses in the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) is gaining momentum, with 45 businesspeople registering through the Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi for this year’s flagship trade event.
Around 20 businesses have been selected to receive delegation facilities coordinated by the Consulate General, based on their previous import and business performance, track record of engagement with Indonesia, business potential, and compatibility with sectors represented at TEI 2026. Other registered participants remain welcome to attend TEI under their own arrangements.
The participants come from Karachi and other parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad and Nawabshah, reflecting broader interest in Indonesia among the province’s business community.
Ahead of the mission, the Consulate General on Tuesday held a Pre-Departure Technical Meeting and Business Lunch in Karachi, providing final preparations for TEI, which will take place on 14-18 October 2026 at ICE BSD City, Greater Jakarta.
The meeting covered business matching, participation arrangements and opportunities available during TEI, while providing a networking platform for participating businesses.
Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir, M.A. underlined that the mission would focus on business outcomes rather than simply the number of delegates or meetings.
“We hope new contacts will develop into real business relationships, inquiries will move into serious negotiations, and existing partnerships will grow further.
The message reflects the Consulate’s emphasis on ensuring that participating businesses approach TEI with clear commercial objectives and engage with relevant Indonesian companies.
The mission builds on the strong performance of TEI last year. TEI 2025 generated USD 22.8 billion in transactions, attracting more than 34,000 visitors and over 8,000 international buyers.
Sindh businesses also recorded tangible results. A 25-member delegation coordinated by the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi secured around USD 22.9 million in trade agreements at TEI 2025, covering commodities, automotive parts, textiles and fashion, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, as well as food and beverages.
For TEI 2026, the Consulate General is arranging targeted 200 more B2B meetings between Pakistani importers and Indonesian companies, matching participants with prospective suppliers and partners based on their business profiles and sourcing interests.
TEI 2026 will feature a broad range of export-oriented sectors, including food and beverages, agricultural products, consumer goods, manufacturing, furniture and home décor, beauty and healthcare, as well as digital products and services**. The exhibition will take place at ICE BSD City from 14 to 18 October 2026.
The delegation is also expected to attend the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in Jakarta, offering additional exposure to Indonesia’s halal and sharia economy and access to relevant business stakeholders.
Consul General Mudzakir will accompany and engage with the Pakistani delegation, particularly business participants from Sindh, during key programmes in Indonesia, while the Consulate’s economic team will facilitate meetings and follow-up with prospective Indonesian partners.
Building on last year’s results, the 2026 mission will focus on translating growing Pakistani interest in Indonesian products into concrete and sustainable business partnerships. In this regard, some members of delegation expressed their appreciation for the informative technical meeting.
